Here are some of the program highlights:

Bitumen Safety Demonstration

A bitumen safety demonstration will be showcased on Sunday (day of registration) by Mr Barry Gundersen.

This will be a ‘practical’ presentation of the more graphic demonstrations used in well known bitumen safety courses presented to promote safe practices when working with bitumen.

Barry Gundersen has over 38 years engineering and management experience in the road surfacing industry on both sides of the Tasman. He was National Technical Manager for Bitumix (NZ) for 15 years before setting up his own consultancy in 1995, specialising in road surfacings. Barry has been a visiting lecturer at Auckland University for 12 years and also runs training courses for the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association.

National Practice

This session provides an overview of current sealing practices from various sealing countries such as Australia, New Zealand, UK and South Africa.

A paper featuring the bitumen emulsion surface dressings market in Europe has been prepared by the International Bitumen Emulsion Federation (IBEF) in France
