|LTPP/LTPPM Study in Australia|
The LTPP/LTPPM study collects observational data from long-term pavement performance (LTPP) test sites and long-term pavement performance maintenance (LTPPM) test sites. The study is vital to being able to reliably predict the 'what-if’ impacts on roads of changes such as increased legal axle loads and changes to axle group configurations, the reduction and re-allocation of maintenance budgets, changes to maintenance strategies and the impact of various new and alternative treatments on pavement performance.
These long term studies require a long-term commitment to not only funding, but also to the collection, assembly and analysis of data from the LTPP/LTPPM test sites throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Austroads has supported the establishment and on-going monitoring LTPP/LTPPM sites in Australia since 1994. The Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) and the Australian Stabilisation Industry Association (AustStab) were also actively involved in the study by providing LTPP test sites of interest to them. This involvement ensures that a wider range of pavement types were included in the study than was previously the case.
The study resulted a number of benefits. Click here for details.
