Francois Finette named new State Technical Leader WA at ARRB

In December last year, the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) appointed Francois Finette as State Technical Leader – Western Australia.

Francois is a Chartered Professional Engineer with more than 10 years of experience managing and providing engineering leadership to multiple projects simultaneously. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Monash University, a Master of Technology (Pavement) from La Trobe University and is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration (Leadership & Innovation) through Curtin Graduate Business School.

“Francois’ dedication as a highly skilled Engineering Manager with his proven leadership skills makes him well suited for the role and we look forward to his contributions to the team.” Michael Caltabiano, ARRB’s Chief Executive said.

Francois has spent the last decade focusing on commercial endeavours, with a keen interest in learning and incorporating new innovative technologies, he seeks to provide sound engineering leadership in the field of: Road asset management, Pavement Engineering, Pavement design, Reliable/economic decision making, Pavement construction optimization, and Pavement forensics.

 “I am looking forward to providing leadership in developing innovative ways of how the next generation of pavements, surfacings and structures are to embrace a digitally connected and motivated world. Above all, I have an opportunity to shape the future and ensure that ARRB remains the trusted advisor on roads and transport.” Says Francois.

Francois is inspired to help shape the next generation of engineers, “This can only be done by embracing diversity and being open to new ways of doing things. Technology is moving at a greater pace than we can process or adapt, with the explosion of AI, we as engineers need to embrace change.” he went on to say. “We will be better than the sum of the individuals.”

Francois and his team will set out to achieve the following goals:

• Ensure that outcomes do not negatively impact on society
• Be a leader in embracing new developments

• Foster and nurture the young
