PBS RAT wins Australian Freight Industry Technology Award 2013

PBS RAT wins Australian Freight Industry Technology Award 2013

The 24th Australian Freight Industry Awards were held at the Palladium at Crown on Saturday the 7th of September.

ARRB were nominated for the prestigious Technology Award, designed to recognise projects that have applied innovation and technology solutions to enhance productivity and solve freight transport related problems.

The ARRB developed PBS RAT system was designed to address the 'first and last' mile issues with regard to heavy vehicle access to local government owned roads. The expert system empowers local government engineers to better understand the ability of their local road infrastructure to accommodate more productive heavy vehicle operations. Use of the tool will result in substantial productivity gains for both transport operators and local road asset managers.

ARRB would like to acknowledge the contributions of the funding organisations that made this project possible.

  • Federal Department of Infrastructure and Transport
  • Victorian Department of Transport
  • VicRoads
  • Port of Melbourne Corporation
  • Municipal Association of Victoria
  • National Transport Commission.

Managing Director Gerard Waldron accepted the award on behalf of ARRB from the Victorian Transport Minister Mr Terry Mulder and VTA President Mr Brendon Cropley.
