Road Research Radio - Optimising the road network

Written by Australian Road Research Board | October 4, 2020

If we had to rebuild our road network from scratch, experts estimate it would cost around $300 billion to replace the more than 800,000km of roads which connect Australia.

So it’s critical that the road network is properly maintained. Not only is our road infrastructure worth plenty, it is vital for the Australian economy and all of us, contributing to our quality of life by connecting people, communities and business.

The Australian Road Research Board understands this, and has recently created a Road Asset Performance team to work with all levels of government to optimise the performance of the road network.

It provides an end-to-end service by using data, analytics and best practice asset management to work with clients to get the most out of their budgets and network.

ARRB's Road Asset Performance team leader Nigel Powers joins host Guy Hand on the Road Research Radio podcast to discuss how government and road agencies can best optimise their road network.
