TIPES issues its first full certificate

Written by Australian Road Research Board | July 15, 2016

On the 15 July the Transport Infrastructure Product Evaluation Scheme (TIPES) issued its first full certificate to Traffic and Access Solutions for their traffic control device Portaboom. The device is used at roadworks in lieu of ‘STOP/SLOW’ bats and allows traffic control staff to be located remotely from live traffic flow, affording significant safety benefits.  ARRB’s Paul Hillier and David McTiernan led the review panel, comprising of experienced road agency professionals, who were encouraged by Portaboom’s obvious potential to be a common sight at roadworks in the near future.

This is ARRB’s second certificate issued under the TIPES scheme. Last December Polymix Industries were issue with a provisional certificate for their Polyroad PR21L stabilisation binder. TIPES continues to grow with a further 7 products in review with regular new enquiries occurring.
