UN Global Decade of Action


ARRB supports the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011 - 2020

Worldwide, it is estimated that almost 1.3 million people die in road crashes every year and a further 50 million are injured. In order to address this major health crisis, the UN has declared 2011–2020 as the Global Decade of Action for Road Safety. This officially commences today, the 11th May, 2011.

To launch the occasion, members of ARRB’s Board and research staff held a launch event at ARRB’s headquarters in the Australian Road Research Centre in Vermont South, Melbourne.
