The Queensland Government introduced a container refund scheme in 2018 that is increasing the amount of glass available for recycling. The use of recycled glass as an aggregate in road infrastructure has been identified as a possible use for these materials. During 2019/20, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) undertook research into the potential use of recycled container glass (RCG) as an aggregate in asphalt as part of their National Asset Centre of Excellence (NACOE) research program, leading to the publication of new and updated TMR specifications.
This webinar will describe the new MRTS36 Recycled Glass Aggregate as well recent changes to MRTS30 Asphalt Pavements and MRTS101 Aggregates for Asphalt, permitting the use of RCG as an aggregate in asphalt.
