In its unmodified form, an asphalt pavement is fully recyclable and subsequently reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is one of the most widely used recycled materials in the road and pavement industry. The use of crumb rubber to modify bituminous binder to produce CRM asphalt mixes is also of high priority as it reduces the amount of end of life tyres sent to landfill and has also demonstrated improved performance of the final asphalt mix.

A WARRIP investigation was undertaken to explore the effect of CRM binders on the recyclability of asphalt pavements from a practical point of view including any implications affecting the reclamation and production process, as well as the ability to characterise CRM-RAP in the laboratory for the design of level 2 RAP mixes.

This webinar covers the investigation undertaken as part of this project, the outcomes, and the ongoing work.
