ARRB provides all levels of government, industry and the community with comprehensive road safety management solutions. ARRB is an iRAP Centre of Excellence, specialising in data-driven solutions to reduce road trauma, including NetRisk2, network safety plans, road safety audits, infrastructure risk assessments, mine haul road safety and heavy vehicle route assessments.

We can build better, more durable roads using recycled materials. ARRB leads the way in innovating and implementing recycled material use in road and rail infrastructure. We help inform all levels of government about best practice use and specification development for plastic, recycled glass, reclaimed asphalt pavement, concrete, crumb rubber and other recycled roads.

What does the future of mobility look like? ARRB knows. We focus on the four cornerstones of New Transport – autonomy, data, future fuels, and future transport systems. With electric vehicle and hydrogen power specialists, digital mapping and annotating capabilities, we advise government and industry stakeholders what’s needed to make Australia and New Zealand ready for Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV).

The Transport Infrastructure Product Evaluation Scheme (TIPES) is a process aimed at providing an independent fit-for-purpose assessment of innovative road construction products. TIPES is intended for the evaluation products that fall outside the scope of established standards and specifications. TIPES is a national scheme endorsed by all Australian State and Territory road agencies as well as IPWEA (QLD), the Queensland Local Roads Alliance and WALGA.

ARRB collects transport data – including the condition of the road network, where potholes and failures are likely, even data pinpointing where crashes are likely to happen. But data is nothing without context. ARRB offers a full analytics service to understand what this data means, and how your organisation can use this information to achieve the best value-for-money outcomes for your roads.

ARRB offers an end-to-end service offering for assets – sealed and unsealed roads, bridges and structures. We help our clients shift from reactive asset management, where assets are fixed only when unusable or unsafe, to a predictive approach, enabling accurate forecasting of asset condition to inform future budget planning, capacity needs, and enhancement requirements to ensure asset longevity.

ARRB has the largest fleet of survey vehicles in Australia and New Zealand, including world-class Intelligent Pavement Assessment Vehicles (iPAVE) and Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD/HWD) units. With our big fleet, expert staff, and end-to-end data collection and analysis capabilities, ARRB can conduct local road surveys; large-scale State and Federal network surveys; ride quality testing; pavement strength testing; road construction quality testing; and check for roughness, rutting and skid resistance.

Independent, fully accredited, Australian-based labs providing world-class materials testing and performance. That’s what ARRB offers your organisation – testing and assessing all types of asphalt, bituminous binders, sprayed seals, bound and unbound granular pavements, polymer modified binder formations and asphalt mix design.

The National Interest Services is Australia’s road research library and knowledge hub. Funded by the Federal, State and Territory Departments of Transport, the NIS program provides structured and systematic access to authoritative land transport knowledge. This includes the Australian Transport Index (ATRI), and regular newsletters and bulletins to keep the roads and transport industry informed.
