Course overview

This Masterclass provides a detailed appreciation of the methods of designing pavement strengthening treatments of flexible road pavements using the Austroads mechanistic-empirical procedure (MEP). The MEP, which was developed by ARRB for Austroads, is described in the 2019 edition of the Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology Part 5 Pavement Evaluation and Treatment Design. The ARRB development team will provide an in-depth appreciation of the origins, assumptions and limitations of the MEP. Armed with such knowledge, pavement designers will have enhanced skills in designing cost-effective strengthening treatments. The Masterclass assumes knowledge of the MEP and will provide insight to experienced pavement rehabilitation designers.
