The Victorian Government’s Ecologiq initiative and Recycled First policy is driving the delivery of #PurposelyGreener Infrastructure.
The Recycled First policy was announced in March 2020 as the Victorian Government transport infrastructure portfolio’s response to the Recycling Victoria strategy.
The policy requires bidders on major transport infrastructure projects to demonstrate how they will optimise the use of Victorian reused and recycled materials that meet existing standards
and specifications.
With the policy now in place, recycled materials such as RAP, crushed glass, crumb rubber and crushed concrete will play an important role in helping Victoria achieve its vision for a circular economy.
The implementation of the Recycled First policy is being supported by Ecologiq, a Victorian Government initiative which will help optimise the use of recycled and reused materials.
It will achieve this through the refining and evolving reused and recycled material technical standards and specifications, creating new local markets for materials and collaborating with industry partners to support innovation.
The four online masterclasses will deliver insights on the benefits, opportunities and challenges of using specific reused and recycled materials.
We will go beyond widely understood information to discuss the nuances of specifications, analyse feedback and lessons learned from trials and examine case
